Directions to Zion National Park
From Salt Lake City: Travel I-15 south, past Beaver.
Exit on Hwy 20. Follow US-89 to Mount Carmel Junction. Take U-9 to Zion's east
entrance.
From Arizona: Travel 89A through Fredonia, Arizona
and Kanab Utah. Follow US-89 to to Mount Carmel Junction. Take U-9 to the east
park entrance.
From Las Vegas: Travel I-15 north. Take exit 16 and
travel through Hurricane. Make a right on U-9 at the second traffic light in
LaVerkin. Continue on U-9 to the south entrance of the park. U-9 through Zion
National Park is always open and is also called the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway.

Southern Utah ATV, 4WD, OHV Trails
Explore the exciting trails on the east side of Zion National Park for off Highway
Vehicles, Dune Buggies, ATVs and Dirt Bikes.
Southern Utah's rugged terrain and huge areas of open spaces make it a perfect
place to hop on the ATV and explore the off highway areas. The beauty of this
corner of Utah makes exploring it all the more attractive. So load your 4WD's
and your ATV's and head out to Southern Utah. Favorite 4WD and ATV environments
in the Southern Utah area are the mountains of sand to play in at the Coral Pink
Sand Dunes and Dixie National Forest on Cedar Mountain.
Barracks Trail
This is a 5.2 mile unpaved sandy trail that allows for views of Zion Park.
Start at the Barracks, located one half mile south of the junction of Scenic
Byways 9 and 89 in Mount Carmel Junction.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes
Dune buggies, all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles rule at the Coral Pink
Sand Dunes. Paddle type tires work the best on the soft sand of the dunes and
all vehicles must be registered for on and off road use. This is a great place
to come and let loose in the hills and hills of sand.
Elephant Butte Trail
The Elephant Butte Trail starts 4 miles south of the Coral Pink Sand dunes
state park entrance and connects with the Barracks trail, both paths boast of
beautiful views.
Elephant Butte and Barracks Trails
Begin the Elephant Butte Trail 4 miles south of the Coral Pink Sand Dunes
entrance. After traveling 8 miles the trail approaches the turn off for the Barracks
Trail. Follow the Barracks trail for 5.2 miles. This path leads to a remote area
so be sure that your off terrain vehicle can safely make the trip. Lower tire
pressures are recommended for the trail.
Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument
ATV use is allowed in much of the Grand Staircase National Monument.

Trails: Red Canyon
Casto Canyon Trail
This 5.5 mile moderate to strenuous trail is open to hiking, horseback and
off road vehicles. Distance: 5.5 miles. There are great views of the red rocks
along this trail.
Barney Cove Trail
This 1.9 mile moderate trail is open to hiking, biking, horses and ATV's.
This trail is used primarily as a connector trail between the Casto Canyon and
Fremont ATV trails.
ATV Trails: Cedar
Mountain
Snowmobile and ATV trails are abundant on Cedar Mountain along U-14.
