St. George Today Magazine

R. Gail Stahle , publisher of the
Today in Dixie Magazine

The new owner R. Gail Stahle of Southwest Publishing, owns a company formed to publish the St. George Today magazine and the Spectrum Newspaper. Gail started with the 24th issue which was sent out on February 2007. He gave it a whole new look and now a new name - Today in Dixie - The Pulse of Southern Utah.

Lyle Hurd, editor of the
St. George Today Magazine

"The Pulse of Southern Utah"

St. George Today Magazine We suggested there was a need for a reliable guide that would communicate and publicize the plethora of events and activities that constitute the pulse of our community. A comprehensive calendar would, we were certain, provide individuals, families and organizations with a valuable reference guide for planning their upcoming month.

St. George TODAY was founded to accomplish this goal, and it is mailed monthly to all homes and businesses in Washington County and Mesquite, Nevada. It is available in local hotels for use by visitors to our area, and with a circulation of over 68,000, it is the only all-inclusive print medium in southern Utah that offers this service. Our goal is for the magazine to be a cover-to cover, dog-eared, coffee-table-keeper for families and businesses in southern Utah and Mesquite.

We also asked you to support the advertisers who make it possible to produce this monthly guide.

Over the past 10 months you, the reader, as well as event and activity planners, and, most importantly, the advertisers you frequent, have all cooperated to make St. George TODAY a viable, sustaining communication of the pulse of Washington County. Thanks to your response we have grown from 48 pages to 64 pages, from newsprint to an e-bright glossy stock, from 43 advertisers to an average of 65 plus, and we circulate 68,000 copies of each issue.

The final issue was #23

For all the toll the desert takes of a man it gives compensations, deep breaths, deep sleep, and the communion of the stars.
